Eau de cologne is also used as a disinfectant in many countries. It is ideal for sanitizing and keeping hands clean more frequently, and it is also very refreshing.

In the past, Eau de Cologne was used as a home remedy for disinfecting all kinds of minor scrapes and scratches, mosquito bites, red patches, and small inflammations. The alcohol in the liquid kills bacteria and fungi. It does sting a little on an open wound, just like iodine.
